Sights and attractions

St. Francis Church

Distance: 150m | 2-minute walk

St. Francis Church here in Compatsch is dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi and faces east, as per ancient tradition. Its layout takes the form of a dove of peace, with the bell tower forming the beak and the porches the wings. Inside the church, you’ll find a magical interplay of light and shadow, and – depending on the position of the sun –the stained-glass window behind the altar illuminates the church in a rainbow of colours.

Distance: 3.5km | 30-minute walk

Countless myths and legends tell of the Sciliar/Schlern witches who once carried out their nefarious deeds here.
